— a poem of potpourris.

Where no one thought I’d be, including you.

I promise you’ll find me near when you crave me,
Swear I’m too close to miss.
I’m all yours, and I never was
I’m the new lover, the death to your existence
The unanswered calls; the vagueness of it all
I’m both the remedy and the quick fix.
The light you never let out, the doors you left unshut
The road you left untravelled, the heat that comforts
The never-ending night, the hours passing by
The her you’d love to have but never care again
I’m with you through everything; nothing, and all at once

Until hell itself freezes over.

Each wave of restlessness that crashes ashore
And the ever-unwinding road,
Each leaf that falls from the withering sycamore
and dreams so surreal it left me gasping for more,
all of them made me realize
this whole time, on every step I took
I thought of only you and never stopped.

The only safe place for us to meet.

I see myself lost in your structure, falling
deep and deeper into a strange-like haven
my universe hangs in the balance, as I’m
forever swallowed by the tides of your eyes.

Through the rear-view, gazes of ours met halfway
I could feel you on me as I averted elsewhere
Your eyes, your neck, your heaven-like lips,
Somehow enchants me to write again.

I’ll count the leaves, the stars, rain and teardrops
Only to feel the things I’m feeling
to imagine what lies beneath and what’s coming
when I kiss those eyes goodnight.

You know your crimes but you know me better

A crimson kiss stained your rosy cheek
but I can’t tell if it’s hers or mine.
I prevailed and didn’t give it much thought,
let alone a fight
but it looked as if
it’d linger night after night.

Though I may never know who truly holds
that malign heart of yours
I’ll always long to hear its beats as
I fall further into my slumber
whilst sinking deeper into its pulse.

Your heartbeat will always be
the last puzzle piece
of why I am what I am
you, yourself, could never solve.

Even with her kiss on your cheek.

It’ll all be for nothing, indeed.

What is solace, if not love discreetly speaking?
Soundlessly reassuring in the bleakest of weather
with every word lingering through and through?

What is grief if not love persevering?
The unspoken guarantee that memories will prevail;
A promise to water the flowers each and every day.

What is decency if not love settling,
acceptance if not love slowly blooming,
What is anger if not love insulating
and disappointment if not love contradicting?

What value does everything hold
without the littlest atom of love, surrounding;
wrapped all tight in between?

I’ll wait.

Beneath all that flickering lights
The chiming euphoria of the night
Between the what-ifs that soon withers
and cruel intentions that occasionally slither

Beyond the tangled trees and shrieking cabin
Moonlight caught our fingers entwined,
Before long, the heartbeat becomes rattles
and our tides finally aligned.

Only then I’d dare to leave a kiss
Long enough to conjure another
Only then I’d risk myself to burn
To have her grace our altar.

But for now, I’m settled with waiting
for our very eyes to meet
whilst I admire her smile; the flickering glint of lust and mischief
and imagine
what lies behind it.
